Valentin Bogdan's 2015/2016 Season Highlights
Valentin Bogdan appears in the Europe and the US in 2015/2016 season, performing solo and chamber music. In July 2015, Valentin can be heard at the Assisi Performing Arts Festival in Italy, in a performance of Camille Saint-Saens' Carnival of the Animals with the Assisi Performing Arts Orchestra, followed a few days later by a solo recital.
September 2015 will feature a repeat performance of the Carnival of the Animals, with pianist Julia Mortyakova, Starkville Symphony Orchestra and Dr. Michael Brown (conductor). This will take place at Rent Auditorium, Columbus MS.
October 2015 will be dedicated to new music, and it will feature Valentin performing his own compositions, Etudes for Solo Piano, at National Association of Composers USA concerts in Nashville TN (Tennessee State University) and Columbus MS (Mississippi University for Women)
November 2015 will feature Valentin Bogdan and his duo partner, pianist Julia Mortyakova at the Mississippi Music Teachers Association Annual Conference. Valentin was the 2015 MMTA Comissioned Composer of the Year, and he will premiere his two piano piece Metamorphosis IV at Mississippi College, in Clinton MS. The program will also featured works by Olga Harris and Cecile Chaminade. The same month, the duo will perform at Jackson Power Academy of Performing Arts (Jackson, MS), and at Hinds Community College (Raymond, MS).
February 2016 will feature a number of performances of pieces composed by Valentin. Metamorphosis IV will be performed on February 6th (3 pm recital) at Poindexter Hall, Mississippi University for Women. Ataraxia for chamber orchestra will be performed on February 12 at the Society of Composers Inc. Region 6 Conference (Friends University, Wichita KS). Retrospection, for Trumpet Ensemble, will be performed by the University of Alabama Birmingham Trumpet Ensemble at the College Music Society Southern Conference (Birmingham Southern College, Feb. 18-20).
March 2016 will see Valentin making his Los Angeles, CA debut, with a performance of his Sonata No. 1 Antithetical References at the CMS Southwest Conference, in Long Beach CA. Later in the month, an encore performance of Metamorphosis IV (with pianist Julia Mortyakova) will follow, at the College Music Society South Central Conference in Wichita Falls, TX (March 18-20).
April 2016: performance at a NACUSA new music recital at Louisiana Tech University, in Ruston LA (April 23)
May 2016: Valentin's composition, Metamorphosis IV was selected for performance at the National Conference of the National Association of Composers USA, at University of Tennessee Knoxville, TN. (May 21). Valentin Bogdan and Julia Mortyakova will be the two pianists.
